Megamind

yeah!!!! i caught megamind already. :))))))
it's so soooo cute! haha!!!

*what if i am bald & my skin colour is one of the primary colour?*
hahahah!!!!

anyway, have been watching a show till particularly late recently..
读心神探-- about solving crimes by reading expressions & body languages.
there's different types of 'distances' in between human. and the closest distance is known as 'intimate distance' whereby it is ranged about 45cm to 90cm. if people steps into your intimate distance, you would feel disturbed because you feel like people are stepping into your territory.
it makes me think... everyday when i take mrt, people are all stepping within my 'intimate distance' too!!!

then, they talk about 夫妻相。
所谓的夫妻相,其实叫做mirror behaviour. they adapt to one another's lifestyle and habits as time passes. that's why they start to live like one another, behave like one another, etc.

wow!!!! i learnt new things... :)))))

Revamp!!!!!

been long since this blog has been written like a real diary. hahah!

saturday: didn't went anywhere. intended shopping day became wardrobe clearing day. i tidied my wardrobe, cleared unwanted clothes, & stuffs which i had wanted to throw since ages ago but didn't have the 'time' to. not bad. i threw out one and half bag of clothes. hahah!

sunday: was training as usual. except that there wasn't tampines west training. 10.10.2010 wasn't any day special to me.

monday: ON LEAVE!!!! woke up, watch show, and shopping!!! it's nice to do this once in a while. wearing my favourite adidas singlet, rented VCD-s, went to do my nails, went to buy watches, and went walking around and doing nothing but buying things. hahaa!!! reached home, tidied my table a little. and start watching my shows.

tuesday: back to work. everyone told me monday was a horrible war. they broke record with 550+ patients. on average, usually we served 100+ less than this. but tuesday wasn't much better. the flow was much smoother i guess, but the crowd wasn't. broke record with 560+ patients, but i was inpatient specialist, so i wasn't affected much.

i am happy at home when watching my medical drama, because i got the diagnosis of patient right. :)
patient has a blood clot in artery which resulted in epilepsy i think. dr went through the rx, saw that vit K was prescribed, & scolded the trainee dr. but upon investigation, they realized the dose of vit K was too little to cause any blood coagulation. as patient is regularly on long flights, suspected that blood clot was actually deep vein thrombosis, and not the vit K.
and i got this diagnosis right before the another trainee dr. did. hahahah!!!

wednesday, thursday: it's just plain work. mood isn't good at work these days. i've come to a conclusion i should not care about anything anymore. i don't know whats gonna happen tomorrow. i just cleared my table. here and there. i feel so good about throwing things, and finding antiques. alvin calls them 'ten years of thrash'. hahaha. & i threw away a DIY present that was intended for someone but in the end wasn't given away.

should i take a picture of my neat desk now? hahah! maybe after proper done with, i shall. lol.

after the revamp of my bags, then my wardrobe & the clothes. now m table and cupboard. next up, my laptop and my blog. hhah!

谈情说案

I've finished the show.
i think the ending is a little weird.
i think i like Lo-Sir more than Prof King.
though i like Prof King's ben ben ideas. hahha

i learnt new things in this show.
like how i will remember
Formalin, a preservative, has low boiling point.
so in order to keep it in liquid state, the environment must be very very very cold.

like how i know how to define love with science.
which equates to the concentration of phenylalanine.
when two people are in love, the amount of phenylalamine in body increases. and this makes them happy.

so what is phenylalanine?
it is a direct precursor to phenylethylamine. Phenylalanine is a precursor for tyrosine, the monoamine signaling molecules dopamine, norepinephrine (noradrenaline), and epinephrine (adrenaline)... etc.
-wikipedia
but i still can't link it to Prof King's theory of love. because he said that phenylalanine is an enzyme. but wiki says its an amino acids. ok, i know enzymes are proteins. but i still cannot link them. hur! i'm a dumb-ass!

but i understand the other theory.
In mathematics, 1 + 1 = 2.
In science, 1 + 1 = 2.
In the theory of love, 1 + 1 doesn't equate to 2.
because love is not just between the two people. it involves the people around them, and the environment, and etc. like what we say, 天时,地利,人和。
so deep right? HAHA!!!

Porn as Pain Management?!

'Seriously?!'
Everyone's stunned by this. Well, why not?
 It's crazy, but it's not!

Watched 'Grey's Anatomy'. & there was this scene whereby this guy who was lying in the hospital doing nothing but watched porn the whole day to relieve his pain. 'Why not give him painkillers?' Everyone would ask. Well, he was allergic to all sorts of painkillers anyone could imagine in the world.

This sounded so crazy, I google-ed about it.
http://www.ehow.com/how-does_5267793_do-endorphins-relieve-pain.html
The human body's natural pain killers - endorphins - are likened to codeine or morphine for the reaction they generate within the body. Endorphins not only relieve pain but bring about a temporary sense of well-being.

Apparently, endorphins are produced by the pituitary glands and hypothalamus during exercise, pain, and excitement & etc.

So this guy watched porn to stimulate the release of endorphins to help relieve his pain!
I learn something new today. :)

Grey's Anatomy

I know it sounds weird. But when you see people saving lives, it touches your heart.
When it literally means, saving a life.
Be it a Senior Consultant, a teeny weeny Consultant, a Medical Officer, a Houseman Officer, an intern.
who cares?
'You save lives, not end them.' haha! That's what a surgeon in the show says.

I watched how they ended a patient's life, while on the other side, they saved one. I saw how a patient celebrates himself being able to survive again. It pulls on something in me.

Why I like to watch such medical dramas? I don't understand what the doctors say about those chimilogy medical terms. I get excited when I finally understand what they say because they are giving medications. & what I understand is 'Oh, I know what this drug is for.'

I like to see how people survive in such conditions. It motivates me to be a better person. haha. I don't know how to explain. It just don't appeal to everyone, but somehow or rather, when I see them successfully saving someone, I feel proud of them. It feels that you saved the person too. Hahaha...  Oh well.. I don't get that feeling as a PT bah. LOL!!!

It's not as though I'm doing Emergency Meds. Though I feel like doing it. Sounds nice. LOL! but at the same time, scary..
